Looking forward to the season
In the blink of an eye the season is less than a month away, preparations are in full swing. We have just finished 6 weeks of indoor winter training.
I was invited by the first team captain to lead the training sessions and for the first time ever, the net was proceeded by 30 minutes of fielding drills each week that went down very well with lots of positive feedback from all the boys down at Sawley & Long Eaton Park Cricket Club.
Over the recent weeks I have had numerous meetings with the committee regarding squad selection for the up and coming season, the moral in camp seems very positive with all at the club looking forward to a successful season.
As this is my first season as the second team captain I’m yet to embrace the ‘managerial role’ with the players as such, but as a senior player for numerous years I have been lucky enough to play alongside excellent role models which I think will benefit my first season in charge.
Being a motivator comes naturally to me and I’d like to think that my positive attitude will inspire my team mates not only in the second team but throughout the entire club. Looking forward to the next few weeks down at the club getting things in order for the first game of the year on the 23rd April where we will be playing our local rivals Risley Cricket Club away from home.
